NICK CLIFFORD // writer, producer, actor

Nick Clifford most recently starred in the final season of Showtime's Emmy-nominated drama Masters of Sex. He also starred as Andy Kelly on VH1's critically acclaimed Hindsight, as well as numerous appearances on hit TV shows like VEEP, Big Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls, Major Crimes, NCIS and more.

As a filmmaker, Nick has been collaborating with his close friends for years. He and Cate previously worked together on The Opportunist, which premiere at the 52nd Annual Cannes Film Festival in the Critic's Week section. He’s been writing, producing and starring in short-form premium content for years, with projects airing on XBox Live, EPIX and Hulu.

Born in New York City and raised in Belgium, Nick began acting at a young age. He trained at the Powerhouse Theater Company and New York Stage & Film before continuing on to Brown University.

While at Brown, he wrote, directed and starred in his first feature THE FACE, which premiered at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. He also served as the Executive Director of the largest student film festival in the world. He starred in main stage shows as well as producing and starring in Kenneth Lonergan's THIS IS OUR YOUTH. He was also a member of the sketch comedy group OUT OF BOUNDS. He graduated magna cum laude in 2008 with a degree in Financial Economics.


CATE SMIERCIAK // writer, director, producer

Cate Smierciak's recent projects include directing new works by John Rosania - PREFACE and IMPOSSIBLE LOVE - with PLAY Collaborative in Los Angeles. Her short film, CLAIRE, premiered at the Nashville film festival and screened in numerous others, including the Mt. Hood film festival, where it won best narrative short. Cate produced the short film THE OPPORTUNIST, with Alberto Roldán, starring Nick Clifford and directed by David Lassiter, which premiered at the 52nd Annual Cannes Film Festival in the Critic's Week section.

She also produced EVERYTHING & EVERYTHING & EVERYTHING with David Lassiter, starring Shane Carruth and directed by Alberto Roldán, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. She's currently developing MUDPOTS - a teen love story that takes place on the Salton Sea, and GRANDMA'S CABIN - a horror/thriller about two sisters and their witchy family heritage.

Cate holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, where she studied Radio/Television/Film, Art Theory & Practice, and participated in the Animate Arts program. In 2009, she received a DAAD Artist Scholar Grant to study directing at the HFF Konrad Wolf, Potsdam, Babelsberg.Cate owes much of her producing prowess to time spent working with K5 International in Munich and IFP in New York - and all the fabulous kindly-drill-sergeant-fairy-godmothers she's encountered along the way.
